API

In respect to interoperability the Office of National Coordinator (ONC) emphasizes the importance of APIs and considers them as a key to improve health data exchange. APIs adoption may also prevent information blocking and help to handle patient data requests from different applications.

iSmart Application Programming Interface (API) has been developed, tested and certified under the following 2015 Edition Health IT certification criteria: § 170.315(g)(7), § 170.315(g)(8) and § 170.315(g)(9).

iSmart API allows patients access their health information in scope of Common Clinical Data Set using applications connected to the API. In particular, this free online service can be used to request and receive the following patient data:

  • Demographics;
  • Diagnoses;
  • Medications taken;
  • Medication allergies;
  • Lab tests and results;
  • Vital signs;
  • Procedures;
  • Immunizations;
  • Care team members;
  • Assessment and plan of treatment;
  • Health concerns.
API

Additional capability is to receive patient summary information using only one request method. To get technical details read our open source documentation.

The more health IT products have really working and certified APIs the higher chance patients and healthcare providers have an application to view and control patient treatment throughout different medical facilities.
